NHS Iftar 2026: Sharing Ramadan with Those Who Care for Us

Ramadan is a time of reflection, gratitude and generosity. It is also a time when communities come together to support one another and share moments of compassion.

This year, Al-Wahab Foundation once again had the honor of organising Iftar events for NHS staff, continuing a tradition that has now entered its third consecutive year.

Over the course of Ramadan, staff and volunteers from the foundation distributed 750 Iftar packs — which included a box of rice (both non-veg and veg), a date and a bottle of water — across three hospitals, ensuring that NHS staff working long and demanding shifts had something ready for them when it was time to break their fast.

Supporting Our NHS Heroes

The distribution took place across three hospitals during Ramadan 2026:

  • Ealing Hospital – 26 February: The first event saw 250 Iftar packs distributed to staff members.
  • Central Middlesex Hospital – 2 March: The second event shared 150 packs with staff.
  • Northwick Park Hospital – 10 March: The final and largest distribution provided 350 packs to staff.

While Iftar packs were prepared for those observing fast during Ramadan, the spirit of the event was never limited to one community. These gatherings were open to staff of all faiths and backgrounds, reflecting the diversity and unity that exists within the NHS. The aim was simple — to show appreciation for the incredible people who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

A Community Effort

The success of these events would not have been possible without the dedication of the Al-Wahab Foundation staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. From preparing and packing the Iftar bags to coordinating logistics across multiple hospitals, the team showed remarkable commitment and teamwork.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Ealing Hospital, Central Middlesex Hospital and Northwick Park Hospital who supported the initiative on the day. Many members of the staff — porters, nursing and midwives to senior management — kindly helped with setting up and coordinating the distribution, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that colleagues across the hospital were able to benefit.

Moments like these remind us that the NHS is not only a place for medical care but also a community built on compassion, cooperation and mutual respect.

A Wider Mission of Hope

While the NHS Iftar events are a special highlight during Ramadan, they are just one part of the wider work carried out by Al-Wahab Foundation.

The foundation is committed to bringing hope and opportunity to communities around the world, particularly in places where access to necessities is limited. Through projects in countries such as Uganda, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the UK, the charity works to support people who do not have access to a decent standard of living.

Our work focuses on helping communities become self-sufficient and improving daily life for families who face significant challenges. This includes initiatives such as providing solar panels to homes without electricity, allowing families to have light in the evenings and enabling children to study and families to live more safely after dark.

Alongside this, the foundation continues to run a wide range of humanitarian projects aimed at improving living conditions, supporting livelihoods and helping families build a better future.

Looking Ahead

The NHS Iftar events are a reminder of the power of community and generosity. Seeing staff, volunteers, hospital teams and community members come together to support one another is something truly special.

As we mark the third year of these events, we are grateful to everyone who helped make them possible — the staff, volunteers, and the hospital teams.

Together, we hope to keep building bridges, supporting communities and bringing hope to those who need it most — both here at home and around the world.
