What can my donation do to help people in need?
The number of people sleeping rough on the streets of London has risen by almost 25% since before the Covid19 pandemic to approximately 3600 people. Many are elderly or suffering health conditions. Soaring rents and increased evictions have increased this number. In addition, more than 500 cases of violence against those who are homeless have been reported in the last year, although this figure is feared to be much higher. Many cases go unreported for fear of retaliation, leaving people cold, hungry and living in fear.
Our partnership with the London Community Kitchen is working hard to provide these people with hot, nutritious food and support. With your donations so far, we have distributed food packs containing enough staple food and drinks to feed around five people for an entire week, relieving the hunger of 250 families. Visitors to the Community Kitchen are also provided a hot, halal meal and sign-posting to further support.
In response to the severe winter weather, we are also working across London to distribute Winter Survival Kits under Help the homeless Project, containing sleeping bags, socks, hats and gloves to combat icy, dangerous conditions. Your support can help prevent hypothermia and keep people warm and protected.
Donate now and you can feed people who are struggling, vulnerable and alone. Your generosity can help them know they are not forgotten and keep their hopes alive.
