Rising energy and food costs are placing families in dire situations. Al-Wahab Foundation in collaboration with the London Community Kitchen is providing free halal meals to people across London who are struggling to feed themselves. Your donation today can provide a cooked meal for vulnerable adults and children suffering food insecurity or a winter survival kit to help those who are homeless. Help us to keep hopes alive here in the UK.

Feeding people to lift community spirits

There has been a sharp rise in the number of people forced to sleep on the streets in London in recent years. In addition to this, many London families are facing food poverty, unable to afford basic food essentials due to unemployment and rising costs.  In response to this growing crisis, Al-Wahab Foundation has extended our outreach work to develop a London response programme to help those struggling in difficult conditions.

“O Aisha, Allah is gentle and He loves gentleness. He rewards for gentleness what is not granted for harshness and He does not reward anything else like it.” (Muslim)

Compassion and mercy are fundamental aspect of Islamic character and this extends to all in need. Our community-based work delivers food to people who are living on the streets, in hostels, who are socially isolated or hungry. Donate today and help feed those in need.

AWF Providing Sustenance in Collaboration with My Yard Charity

At Al-Wahab Foundation, we believe that providing sustenance to those in need can ensure better health and strength to deal with daily challenges. To reach out to a maximum number of impoverished individuals in the UK, AWF has collaborated with My Yard Charity, an organization working to reduce food waste and actively respond to food deprivation among poor and needy people. AWF provides boxes of freshly cooked hot meals to My Yard Charity every Tuesday that are then distributed among those who are well-deserving. Moreover, AWF also provided food and essentials packages to My Yard Charity so that the assistance can reach those who need it the most. Until now, we have provided 50 essential items bags and over 440 cooked meal boxes.

What can my donation do to help people in need?

The number of people sleeping rough on the streets of London has risen by almost 25% since before the Covid19 pandemic to approximately 3600 people. Many are elderly or suffering health conditions. Soaring rents and increased evictions have increased this number. In addition, more than 500 cases of violence against those who are homeless have been reported in the last year, although this figure is feared to be much higher. Many cases go unreported for fear of retaliation, leaving people cold, hungry and living in fear.

Our partnership with the London Community Kitchen is working hard to provide these people with hot, nutritious food and support. With your donations so far, we have distributed food packs containing enough staple food and drinks to feed around five people for an entire week, relieving the hunger of 250 families. Visitors to the Community Kitchen are also provided a hot, halal meal and sign-posting to further support.

In response to the severe winter weather, we are also working across London to distribute Winter Survival Kits under Help the homeless Project, containing sleeping bags, socks, hats and gloves to combat icy, dangerous conditions. Your support can help prevent hypothermia and keep people warm and protected.

Donate now and you can feed people who are struggling, vulnerable and alone. Your generosity can help them know they are not forgotten and keep their hopes alive.
